Traveling To Uganda
The government of Uganda reopened its borders to tourists in October 2020 after the Covid 19 disruptions, and ever since, the number of foreign visitors trooping into the small East African nation has increased. Like some of its East African neighbors, Uganda has always been a haven for tourists with its lush vegetation and rich wildlife.
The economy is heavily dependent on foreign exchange earnings from tourism, so the government of Uganda decided to modify its immigration laws and simplify its visa application process to make it easier for foreigners to obtain visas. The brainchild of its effort is the Uganda East Africa Visa.
What Is The Uganda East Africa Visa?
The Uganda East Africa Visa is an electronic visa program, better known as the e-visa program. It was launched in June 2016 after an agreement was reached by Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda. Tourists from other countries who hold this visa can visit any of these countries with the same visa, regardless of which country issued it. The East Africa Visa is issued solely for the purpose of tourism and is valid for 90 days, counting from the date of arrival.
Applicants don’t need to visit the embassies of Uganda, Kenya, or Rwanda in their home countries to apply for this visa, as they can do so from the comfort of their homes. All they need is an internet-connected smartphone or computer and the required documents to complete the online application form.
