Sudan Visa Policy
Sudan has a visa policy that regulates the requirements of visitors coming to the country and the type of visas they may need. Under the current policy, any visitor to Sudan must get a visa unless their nationality qualifies them for visa entry. The policy mandates all visitors to have a passport with at least 6 months of validity.
Visa Exemption
Visa-exempt visitors are persons from countries that appear under the visa-exempt list. This list is regularly updated in line with bilateral or multilateral agreements reached by the government of Sudan with other countries. While males from Egypt between 18-49 can stay in Sudan indefinitely, a few other nationals can stay in Sudan for up to 30 days. Visitors from Saudi Arabia can also visit the country without visas if they are coming for business visits but with the condition that they obtain a letter from the Sudanese Ministry of Investment.
Before traveling to Sudan, always make sure that you check the current visa waiver list for your country because the list changes according to the official government policy. This way, you will know whether you qualify for visa-free entry or not.
Visa On Arrival
Still, under the visa policy, there Is a special list of those citizens who can get visas once they arrive in Sudan. This visa on arrival offers different duration of stay depending on the visitor’s nationality. While some nationals can stay for up to 60 days, others are restricted to 30 days visits. For instance, Turkish citizens can stay for up to one month but must arrive directly from Turkey.
In addition to the above, visitors who can prove that they have Sudanese fathers can get arrival visas regardless of their present nationality. Also, those who are married to Sudanese may get it if they can provide a valid marriage certificate.
Sudan Electronic Visa
Sudan has an electronic visa policy for visitors who need visas to enter the country. This visa can also be approved for those who qualify for visa free entry as well. The electronic option is the easiest because you don’t have to waste time waiting in line at the airport or go through the long process at a Sudanese foreign mission office. You can submit your application from the comfort of your home and get feedback within three days.
The application form has sections for travel, passport, and personal information, which you must fill out. And there is also an application fee that must be paid for processing.
The e-visa, as it is fondly called, is valid for 60 days and is issued as a single-entry document. The holder can stay for 30 days and extend it by an additional 30 days if they wish, but they must get a police registration at least three days after arrival. The e-visa is delivered to the applicant through their email.
Key Information About Sudan
As you prepare for your e-visa application, here are some important things to remember.
Extension Timeframe: If you plan to extend your stay in Sudan by more than 30 days, you must do so before your first runs out and while you are already in the country.
Visas can only be extended by 30 days and done once. After the first time, you must leave Sudan. If 60 days are insufficient, you should consider applying for a long-stay visa.
Passport: Make sure your passport has a minimum of 6 months validity before applying for a Sudanese visa, as that is one of the requirements. Also, make sure that you arrive in Sudan with the same passport you used for the application, as the immigration officers on duty will check for the passport number. Visitors arriving with a different passport will be denied entry.
Proof of Funds: You will have to prove at the entry point that you have enough funds to cover your expenses during your stay. This can be in cash, a traveler’s cheque, or even a credit or debit card. The authorities want to be sure that you will not be a social burden.
Application Fee: Applications can only be submitted after paying the processing fee with your credit or debit card. Kindly note that this fee is not refundable and does not guarantee that the visa will be released if you don’t meet the requirements.
Letter of Invitation Details: If a letter of invitation is part of the requirements for the visa you are applying for, ensure that your host signs it and includes key information about your itinerary and the purpose of the trip. For business visitors, a letter from the Foreign Affairs Ministry or Chamber of Commerce may be required.
