Slovakia At A Glance
Slovakia is a landlocked Central European country with a population of 5.4 million, according to the 2021 census. The country has a land area of 49,035 km2 and came into being after the dissolution of the old Czechoslovakia in 1993. Ever since the young nation has transitioned from a poor country to a high-income economy dominated by technology and innovation. It also joined Eurozone, European Union, NATO, and the Schengen Area. Aside from these organizations, Slovakia is also a member of many other World organizations.
Slovakia joined the EU in 2007 and the Schengen Area and started issuing Schengen visas in the same year. It remains one of the most peaceful countries in Europe.
Slovakia Schengen Visa
You can apply for a Schengen visa to Slovakia and use the same visa to travel to other European countries due to the borderless policy in force. Only nationals of other Schengen countries and a few other non-European countries can enter Slovakia without a visa; others must obtain a visa. This visa allows the holder to stay in Slovakia or within the Schengen Area for 90 days, and it is valid for 180 days, after which it expires.
It is a short-term visa that may be issued as a single or multiple-entry visa. Most visitors apply for visas to visit as tourists, attend business meetings, and visit family and friends to engage in social and cultural events. It does not qualify one for a residence permit.
Once you arrive in Slovakia, the immigration officers at the border or airport will request it and will turn you back if you don’t have it or any valid visa issued by the Slovakian embassy.
