The Philippines tourist visa is available to eligible applicants with the required documents to complete their application. Are you planning to visit the East Asian nation to spend your holidays? Applying for a tourist visa is easy as long as you have a valid reason for the visit and meet all the visa application requirements. This page contains all the information you need to successfully apply for one.

What Is A Philippines Tourist Visa?

A tourist visa is a travel document or permits issued to foreign nationals with plans to visit the country for their holidays or sightseeing. Not everyone requires a tourist visa, as citizens from visa-exempt countries do not. Tourist visas are solely for tourism only and not for any other purpose. It is a short-term visa issued for these other reasons besides tourism and sightseeing.

Medical Treatment: Those coming to The Philippines for medical treatment require a visa and can apply for a tourist visa. This document will allow them to consult a medical professional in the country and get the necessary medical care.

Short Business: Although there is a business visa for business purposes, you can also use a tourist visa for business purposes if you don’t plan to stay for more than 30 days.

Sports/Cultural/Academic/Religious event: You can use this visa to enter the Philippines to attend any social event.

Visit Family/Friends: Not to be confused with a family Visa; this one can also be used to visit and stay with family or friends for a short time.

Note: it is crucial to note that this visa is not for work related activities. Working in the country on a tourist visa is a violation that will attract a fine or, in worse cases, jail time. If you plan to work, apply for a work visa instead.

Tourist Visa Fees

All applicants are expected to pay a visa fee for the visa using a credit or debit card. For a single entry visa with 3 months validity, the application fee is $30, but for multiple entry visas valid for 6 and 12 months, respectively, the visa fee is $60 and $90, respectively.

How long Will It Take To Get The Visa?

The processing time varies depending on the application method. Those who can apply online should get their visas within 2-5 days, but those who visit the embassy may have to wait for 10 or more days. To avoid delays, ensure you arrange all your documents, which must be valid.

Philippines Tourist Visa Application Requirements

These are the visa requirements for a tourist visa.

Completed Application Form: The visa application form must be completed with the correct information. The information you provide must be one and the same as what is on your documents.

Passport Valid: You need a valid passport that will not expire within 6 months.

Picture: A passport-sized picture showing your face clearly. Wearing glasses is not allowed.

Return Ticket: A return flight ticket back to your home country at the conclusion of your trip.

Proof of financial means: A bank statement showing that you have the financial means to cover all your travel expenses.

Proof of Accommodation: Proof of accommodation like a house address in the country or hotel reservation.

These are the documents you need to attach to the application form.

How To Apply For a Philippines Tourist Visa

To get a visa, you may submit your application online or visit the Philippine embassy in your country if the online application is not open to your region. At the embassy, you will have to submit photocopies of your documents with a completed and signed application form. The visa fee may either be paid online or paid into a designated bank account of the embassy with the receipt attached to the application form.

The embassy will schedule an interview with you, and on the set day, you must bring original copies of all the documents for review. After the interview, you will be informed by mail of the outcome of your application. If your application is approved, you will be invited to come for your valid Philippine visa.

If you are eligible for an online application, you don’t have to go through the extended embassy application process. The Philippine government has opened an online visa portal. With your smartphone, you can fill out and submit the application form online by following these steps.

  • Visit VisaHQ

  • Choose The Philippines as your destination

  • Select your country

  • Choose “Tourist visa.”

  • Fill out the application form

  • Attach all necessary documents

  • Pay the visa fee

  • Submit for Processing

After submitting the application form online, you may need to wait a few days for it to be reviewed. If your application is successful, the embassy will forward your Philippines tourist visa to your registered email address.
