Before you travel to a foreign country, whether for tourism purposes or business purposes, you must acquire a travel document - unless applicants are from countries listed as visa exempt! The same goes for a Pakistani visa. If a foreign citizen wants to enter Pakistan for business purposes, he/she is required to have a valid visa.
Pakistan offers two types of business visas: a traditional visa and an electronic visa. Most travelers prefer an e-business visa as it's more convenient than a regular one.
Pakistan Business Visa - An Overview
As of today, citizens from more than 69 countries are eligible for Pakistan business visas. It is a travel document that allows a holder to enter Pakistan to perform professional and commercial activities, including:
Scheduling a meeting with business associates
Attending seminars and conferences
Enrolling in a training program
It's recommended to apply for a Pakistan business e-visa. With this approach, you don't have to visit the Pakistani embassy or consulate office. An e-visa is designed to make the visa application process completely streamlined. So, you can apply for a Pakistani business visa from the comfort of your home!
Validity Period
Pakistan business visa comes with a validity period of 5 years. It is a multiple-entry visa that allows you to enter Pakistan whenever necessary. On top of that, you can even extend a Pakistani visa. To do so, you must have a valid Pakistan visa as well as a residency in the country!
Required Documents
To get your Pakistan business visa, you'll need to provide some important documents, also known as visa requirements. These documents include:
Valid Passport - A copy of your original passport information page. Make sure your passport has at least 6 months of remaining validity as well as 2 blank pages.
E-mail Address - The applicant's email address will be linked electronically to their passport. Upon approval, your e-visa will be shared via email!
Invitation Letter - A business invitation letter issued by business organization duly recommended by concerned trade organization. An invitation letter must include information about the applicant, the nature of the tip, and desired validity of the visa.
Business Registration - A copy of the company's certificate of incorporation located in Pakistan.
Photograph - Applicants must provide a digital photograph with white background. Make sure your photograph was taken within the last 6 months.
Besides these, you might need a few additional documents, depending on your citizenship, such as a health declaration form or COVID-19 vaccination certificate. To learn all about Pakistan business visa requirements, you can visit the visa portal on VisaHQ for your country!
How To Apply For Pakistan Business Visa Online?
As Pakistan offers both traditional and electronic visas for business purposes, the application process is different as well. To get a traditional business visa, applicants are required to submit the visa application form and supporting documents to the nearest Pakistani embassy. In that scenario, you might need to spend an entire day just to apply for a business visa.
Another and more convenient option for foreign citizens is to apply online for a Pakistan business visa. An e-visa is designed to make the application process simple and fast. It'll only take a few minutes to apply for a Pakistan business e-visa. All you need to do is visit VisaHQ, select your citizenship, and follow these steps:
Complete The Visa Application Form - You'll need to answer some personal and security questions like your phone number, passport information, travel dates, and so on.
Pay The Visa Fee - Next, you have to pay the visa processing fees. As this entire process is online, you'll need to use online payment options, such as a debit card, credit card, or PayPal account.
Submit Your Application - Final step is to submit your application form along with supporting documents.
Once you submit your documents, your application will be processed by the Pakistani embassy. Upon approval, you'll get your travel document via email.
Processing Time
The processing time for a Pakistan business visa depends upon your citizenship. If you are a citizen of a country listed under "business visa list countries," you'll be able to get your e-visa within 24 hours.
Alternatively, if your country is enlisted under "non-business visa list countries," you'll need to wait for at least 4 weeks to get your travel documents. In addition, if you want to get an extension, you must submit your application at least 4 weeks before your old visa expires.
Furthermore, your application form is the most important document if you want to get a Pakistan business visa. If there are errors or mistakes in your application, your e-visa will more likely be delayed or denied. So, make sure to double-check your online form before you submit it to the Pakistani embassy!
Pakistan Visa Policy
The Passport Rules 1955 is the foundational law regulating the entry and exit of foreigners who require visas and can enter visa-free. For those who require visas, the government of Pakistan introduced the e visa Program and visa on arrival for selected nationalities to increase their access to visa services. These visas are issued for only two purposes, tourism, and business, and they are short-term visas.
Visitors who want to visit Pakistan for long-term engagements must submit applications to the Pakistani diplomatic mission in their country. The law also allows people to travel in your groups if they come for the right reasons and meet all the documentary requirements. Furthermore, they must apply for a visa from their country unless in the case of a visa on arrival.
There are three ways to apply for a visa online, at the airport, or at the Pakistani embassy abroad.
While most foreign nationals can apply for a Pakistani visa at the embassy, the visa on arrival and e visa is only open to some. In the case of e-visas, it takes 24-72 hours for the application to be approved, and it is open to all countries except for the following.
Citizens from these countries cannot apply for e visas
- Armenia
- Afghanistan
- Chad
- Bhutan
- DR Congo
- India
- Eswatini
- Israel
- Libya
- North Korea
- Mauritania
- Sudan
- Somalia
- Syria
- Yemen
Note: These countries may be removed from the list in future or more countries may be added to it. Make sure you are certain that your country is not on the list before submitting your application.
Difference Between Pakistan ETA and E Visa
You may find the Pakistani electronic travel authorization and the electronic visa confusing especially if you are eligible for both of them but there are marked differences. The ETA is a simplified entry document to obtain and offers applicants more options while the e Visa is limited. For starters, you should know that the ETA is not necessarily a visa but a legal document that allows the holder to apply for a visa on arrival once they arrive in Pakistan. However, the e Visa is an actual visa that grants the holder access into Pakistan without the need to apply for any other entry document.
Another difference between them is the number of days for processing time; while both are speedily processed, ETA applications are approved faster and on the same day compared to e visas that may take up to 2 -3 days.
Lastly, fewer countries apply for ETA compared to e visa. While only over 50 foreign nationalities are eligible for ETA, almost all other natural nationalities qualify for e visa excluding the few exceptions listed at the beginning of the article.
You can consult the list of countries to check for your eligibility before applying for ETA or e visa.
Key Information About Pakistan ETA/ e Visa
When applying for a Pakistan ETA or e-Visa, here are some things to remember.
Use Only Valid Documents: Ensure you use only valid documents for your application. Avoid expired or wrong document uploads, which will result in application rejection.
Don’t Overstay: Never overstay beyond the maximum days allowed under the arrangement; otherwise, you will be fined before leaving the country. It is an immigration violation to stay as an Illegal alien in Pakistan.
You Will Be Interrogated: Remember that despite having all the documents and e-visa, the immigration officers on duty will still ask you questions about your trip. Endeavor to answer their questions as clearly as possible. The immigration officers have every right under the law to deny a visitor entry into Pakistan even if they have a visa. The only way to avoid issues is to answer questions honestly and ensure your answers correlate with the information on your visa.
The Fee Is Non-Refundable: The e-visa application fee you pay is nonrefundable even if your application is rejected. The fee must be paid with a credit or debit card.
Use The Same Passport: Make sure you travel to Pakistan with the same international passport you used for the application. Your e Visa or ETA is linked to your passport so traveling with a different passport will lead to entry denial because the immigration officers on duty will assume that you don't have a legal entry document. You also want to make sure that your passport will remain valid throughout your time in the country. Your passport must have a minimum of 6 months validity from your arrival date in Pakistan. If it expires sooner, get a new passport.
