Kazakhstan: Central Asia
Known as the Republic of Kazakhstan, the country is situated in Central Asia and is classified as a Eurasian nation along with Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and several other countries. Kazakhstan and other Eurasian countries were part of the old Soviet Union; like the others, it didn’t appear on world maps until the disintegration of the USSR in 1991.
The name Kazakhstan is of Turkic origin, which means “free man”. This name was appropriated because of the Turkic nomads who inhabited the area for centuries. Kazakhstan is also one of the most populated countries in the region with the largest economy. There are expatriates, international students, and business investors living and working in the country.
Do I Need A Visa As An Indian?
It depends on how long you wish to stay. Indian passport holders can enter the country with only their passports and no visa if they wish to stay for 14 days. The government allows 14 visa-free days for Indian nationals. So as an Indian, you can enter Kazakhstan for tourism or business-related activities for 14 days visa-free thrice within 180 days and must leave before the 14 days expire each time. However, they are not allowed to work during their stay in the country.
For those who wish to work or stay longer than the approved 14 day window, they must apply for a Kazakhstan visa.
