      Guinea Bissau Visa Policy

Guinea Bissau is open to foreigners, but they must obtain a visa unless they come from any of the visa-exempt countries on the exemption list. Visas can be obtained in one of two ways; from foreign diplomatic missions a d through an online pre-enrollment form which is also called the online visa.

The country's visa exemption list consists of countries from the West African region. Guinea Bissau is a member of Ecowas and subscribes to the union's free entry and exit protocol. To this end, citizens of member states can freely enter and exit Guinea Bissau same as Bissau citizens who can visit other member states as well, but they cannot stay for more than 90 days per visit.

Aside from ECOWAS nations, there is also a visa exemption program for visitors from selected countries with diplomatic or service passports. These nations are Portuguese-speaking countries, including Portugal. You don't need a visa if you are a special passport holder from these countries.

      Visa On Arrival

The visa-on-arrival option is another one worth mentioning. Visitors from selected countries may visit without a visa but will get one at the entry point. The moment the visa is issued, it becomes valid and guarantees a free stay for 90 days at most, after which the holder must exit.

      E Visa

The electronic visa is a special pre-enrollment Program for visitors who do not qualify for visa-free or visa-on-arrival entry. It is open to visitors from most countries for short visits. Applicants must fill out the application form online and submit it for approval. They will receive the online confirmation after three days or even sooner so they can visit the country. The online confirmation is issued through their email address which must also be printed out for the trip.

Electronic visas are issued for leisure and business trips. However, transit visitors who intend to stay in the country for a few days before continuing their trip may also apply for it. Furthermore, there is an application fee payable with a debit or credit card for processing.

Key Information About Guinea Bissau e Visa And Travel Tips

As you prepare for your application and eventual trip to Guinea Bissau, West Africa, here are some tips and information to remember.

Be Security Conscious: Guinea Bissau has its own security challenges like every other nation, so you want to make sure that you are conscious of your environment each time you step out of your hotel. Avoid moving around at night, and if you must, do so with a trusted person who knows their way around. You also should avoid places and spots that are considered high-risk.

There Are Different Validity Dates: The validity of the e-visa can be confusing, so you want to take extra care. Single-entry visas have 30 days as a bare minimum and 90 days as the highest, while multiple-entry visas are valid for 90, 180, and 365 days.

Whichever one you are applying for, make sure it suits your itinerary.

Cost of Application: The application fee is different for all visas as it depends on whether you want a single or multiple-entry visa. Furthermore, the visa duration also matters too. Consult the application requirements to be sure of the cost before applying.

Don't Work In The Country: This visa is not issued for employment, so you are not allowed to work in the country. It can only be used for the purposes mentioned above, which are tourism, business, and transit. If you wish to work in Guinea Bissau as an expatriate, you must get a work visa abroad from any foreign mission.

Always Hold A Copy of Your Visa: Always hold a copy of your e-visa when traveling to Guinea Bissau as well as whenever you are outdoors during your visit. Please print a copy for your trip once it is released to your email. You may need to show it as proof of legal entry at any point during your stay.

Proof of Funds: You can prove financial sufficiency in a few ways. A credit or debit card or even cash will suffice. When calculating the amount of cash, you will use for your stay, consult the current minimum daily amount for foreigners, then multiply it by the number of days you will spend in the country.

Air Ticket With Matching Dates: Not only will visitors be advised to have tickets for their trips the ticket must also have matching entry and exit dates similar to what is on their visa. This is especially true for transit visitors who wait to board another flight for an onward journey.

Passport: As a visitor to Guinea Bissau, you must hold a valid passport covering your visit. It must be valid for at least 6 months and must be the same passport used for the e-visa application. You will be allowed to enter if you come with a different passport.

Use Approved Routes: For your safety, always use approved entry and exit routes because law enforcement officers are always present in these spots. Plan your travel itinerary accordingly.

Extensions: If you ever decide to apply for an extension, you must visit the nearest immigration department to submit an application. Kindly note that your application will be denied if your visa has expired as of the time you file it. An extension must be filed before your visa expires or the legal number of days is exceeded. An application fee should accompany the application, and the number of extended days will be decided by the officer in charge.

Not Transferable: This e-visa is not transferable, nor can two persons share the same visa. In addition, there are no group e-visas for touring groups. Each visitor must apply for the visa with their passport, and the visa will remain theirs until it expires.

These are some of the vital details to keep in mind as you plan your trip.
