Do Canadians need a visa for Egypt? Or can they enter the country without one? If you are a citizen of Canada, this is one question that will likely run through your mind as you prepare for a trip to Egypt.
Do Canadians Need A Visa For Egypt?
Canadian citizens need a visa for Egypt, especially if they want to stay for a significant period. However, the application method is much easier than you’ll expect. They can visit the Ontario embassy or apply for an online visa if they only visit for a short time. Furthermore, there is a special visa on arrival for short trips, so there is no need to acquire a visa before they arrive in the country. Below, we review these visas in detail.
Applying At The Embassy
Egypt has an active diplomatic mission in Canada, with its Embassy in Ontario and consulates in other cities like Quebec and Ottawa. Canadians who wish to visit and stay in Egypt for a long time must visit the embassy of any consular office because the visa process is more detailed. The officials will request and review their documents, and processing takes several working days.
To apply at the embassy, you must book an appointment first, and a date will be set for you to present yourself and your documents. The booking procedure depends on the embassy; some accept bookings via phone or email.
Once your documents are reviewed, and up to date, the embassy will invite you to collect your visa.
Online Application
Another option for Canadian passport holders is the online application. This process doesn’t require visits to the Egyptian embassy or any of its consulates. The online application is mostly for short-term tourist visas. You only need to complete the online form and submit soft copies of your documents. A valid email address is also required to receive all the visa once it is ready. Also called the Egyptian e-visa, it is valid for 180 days and is a multiple-entry visa. Note that you can only stay in Egypt for a maximum of 90 days and not a day more. To apply for an Egypt tourist visa, do the following.

Egypt Visa On Arrival
Another option for Canadians is the visa on arrival. Canada is one of the countries on Egypt’s visa on arrival list, so you can visit without a visa and get one at the arrival point. This visa can be issued as a single entry visa and allows you to stay for up to 30 days, but another option for 180 days grants multiple access. The one you will get will depend on the purpose of your trip and how long you plan to stay.
