The Canada eta for Brazilians has made it easier for Brazilians to visit Canada at short notice. Both countries share strong diplomatic ties, so the Canadian government has included Brazil among the list of countries whose citizens can apply for electronic travel authorization visa at short notice. Brazil is one of more than 59 other countries on the special eta list.
However, to apply for this travel document, you must provide valid documents to prove your identity. There are also special requirements Brazilians must meet to qualify for this Canadian visitor visa.
Below, we review eta in detail for interested applicants.
Canada ETA For Brazilians
ETA is an electronic travel document issued to citizens of eligible countries like Brazil who wish to enter the country through any Canadian airport. This document is processed online with no need for physical paperwork. Brazilians don’t have to visit the Canadian embassy in Rio to apply for a tourist visa unless they want a student or work visa, requiring a resident permit.
Brazilians are expected to apply for ETA before they board a flight for Canada and they ought to follow the entry rules. This document is not for travelers entering Canada by land or sea. It takes only a few minutes to get approved and is valid for 5 years starting from the day it is issued to the applicant. Another special requirement to qualify for ETA is that the applicant must have held a Canadian visa over the last 10 years or possess a valid non immigrant US visa.
Brazilians traveling to Canada through the Southern US border or by sea need a different visa, not eta. They will have to apply to the Canada embassy or the consular office in Brazil.

How To Apply For Canada ETA
Applying for Canada eta from Brazil is very easy using your smartphone. You need to provide accurate and valid documents to complete the application form. Here is a list of documents and information you need.
Valid Passport: You need a valid Brazilian passport that will not expire in the next 6 months, counting from the arrival date. Passports that expire in less than 6 months are not accepted. Another thing to note is that an ETA expires as soon as the attached passport expires.
Even if the eta has a few years left before it expires, it is no longer valid once the passport you use to register it expires.
Email Address: You need an email address because the application is done online, and successful eta visas are sent to the inbox of applicants. So ensure you only use an email you have access to.
Means Of Payment: There is a $7 CAD application fee. You can pay this fee using a master card or visa card. Debit or Credit Card issued by other card companies may also work.
Extra Requirements
The Canadian government released an additional requirement on February 22, 2021, for Brazilians and other ETA-eligible applicants. The new requirements state that applicants must obtain a travel health certificate before they enter the country.
This certificate will be requested by Immigration officers at the entry point. Without a health certificate, the visitor will not be allowed into the country.
Who Needs Canada Eta?
Brazilians traveling to Canada via air for short visits, if not more than 90 days, require ETA. The applicant may also be a permanent US resident with documentary evidence to prove their residency status. This visa is not for Brazilian arriving by sea or land.
Brazilians Who Don’t Need ETA
You don’t need an ETA if you are
A permanent Canadian resident
A valid Canadian visa holder
A citizen of France living in territories like Saint Pierre and Miquelon and flying to Canada directly
A Transit passenger with a China Transit Program document or if you are a transit passenger without a visa
A Brazilian diplomat or official representative
If you fall into these categories, you don’t require ETA to enter Canada. Also, note that Canadian citizens who have dual citizenship don't need an electronic travel authorization eta.
Requirements For Children
Minors below 18 cannot apply for Canada eta on their own. There is a waiver for minors on the condition that their parents apply for the document on their behalf. If not their parents, their guardian whose company they will be making the trip must apply for the ETA on their behalf.
Guardians and parents or family member must also indicate this on the form while providing their details.
