Barbados Visa Policy
Barbados, being a sovereign state, has no bilateral visa accords but has signed trade pacts with its CARICOM neighbors. This makes it convenient for most guests to come and go on relatively little notice. Due to the continuing coronavirus epidemic, Barbados has implemented quarantine measures and health declarations, but does not provide a broad variety of visas.
Barbados has different entry restrictions for different nationalities and lengths of stay. In most cases, visitors do not need a visa to enter the country and may remain for up to 90 days. Barbados categorizes visa-free countries into four groups: 180 days, 90 days, 30 days, and 28 days. These categories determine the duration of stay allowed for visitors from each country without requiring a visa, simplifying travel planning and compliance with Barbados' visa policies. Before booking any international travel, it's smart to familiarize yourself with the rules that apply to your own country.
Visitors from nations where visas are required must contact the nearest Barbadian embassy or consulate to arrange an appointment and gather the required paperwork. While certain countries may have additional entrance requirements, for the vast majority of nations, a valid passport is all that is needed to enter Barbados.
It's possible that new forms of identification may be required in the wake of the COVID-19 epidemic. These include the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) and the ED Card. In instance, the ED Card may be processed digitally and is generally necessary for smooth entry into the nation. Travelers shouldn't have to print and sign the paper by hand, but they should verify this with their destination.
If you need a visa to enter Barbados, you should apply for one well in advance of your planned departure date. It's important to remember that even with a visa, you could not be allowed into Barbados; the Immigration officer at the airport or port of entry has the last say.
ED Card
The ED Card is a required document for all visitors to Barbados, and its purpose is to track the health of the country's international visitors in particular. It's important to understand that the ED Card is not meant to replace a visa in any way. Contact the closest Barbadian embassy for visa information if you are a citizen of a country that needs a visa to enter Barbados.
The ED Card is a health declaration required of all nations entering Barbados regardless of visa restrictions. In order to get the ED Card, travelers need to fill out a short health and COVID-19 symptom questionnaire. Furthermore, a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours after arrival is required. Rapid COVID-19 antigen testing may also be performed on arriving passengers.
A confirmed hotel reservation is another must for every trip. A minimum of two nights is required for fully vaccinated persons, while a minimum of seven nights is required for those who have not been vaccinated. Individuals who have not been vaccinated will be placed in quarantine for 5 days while a PCR test is performed.
Visitors to Barbados who can provide documentation of immunization with an AstraZeneca, Moderna, Pfizer, or Johnson & Johnson vaccine have had their required quarantine time cut in half as of May 8th, 2021. Now, they need simply stay in a designated quarantine facility for a few of days. Those who have been vaccinated are still need to provide the results of a PCR test done three days before to departure that showed no signs of infection and to take another PCR test upon arrival. The PCR test and quarantine are still required for all visitors to Barbados, regardless of whether or not they have been vaccinated.
A single entrance is permitted on the Barbados ED Card, which is valid for 30 days from the date of issuance. In accordance with the regulations governing visa-free stays for qualifying nations, it permits stays of up to 90 days upon each admission.
